Everybody (almost) in the world knows what "YouTube" is.
The numbers behind the platform are amazing:
- Every minute 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube.
- According to Nielsen, YouTube reaches more US adults ages 18-34 than any cable network.
- Millions of subscriptions happen each day. The number of people subscribing daily is up more than 3x since last year, and the number of daily subscriptions is up more than 4x since last year.
YouTube is getting huge and many YouTubers are getting very famous too.
However, the reality behind many YouTubers is not so clear as you may think. Big channels (like the one of two guys, whose name starts with "S") are real studios with many people working in it. If you may think that a YouTuber is a normal person in front of a webcam... Well, he's not.
For this reason, I'm really enjoying the new project of a famous italian YouTube named "Doctor Clapis". In this project he explains the complex world behind this massive platform and he tells many things that many don't even imagine.
My suggestion is to take a look to the video below (I know, it's not in english).
[Update]: here's the second episode.
Fantastic animation and a nice story. Press play. 5 minutes break well spent (at least for the smile that you'll do).
"There are all sorts of Aliens living throughout space. Johnny is a Space Delivery Man who travels to different planets to deliver packages. Johnny is lazy and his only desire is to sleep in his autopilot spaceship. when the spaceship arrives at the destination, all he has to do is simply deliver the box."
Have you ever thought that your photos are too... well still? Of course you'd say: they're photos, not videos.
I've discovered a new great app, that is able to combine the advantages of both videos and photos.
It's Cinemagraph Pro.
The app is incredibly easy to use and with just few clicks the results are amazing. You need only a camera (a reflex is maybe better, for the image quality, but even an iPhone is fine) and a computer. There's also the iOS version of this app, but I prefer to work on my Mac with photos and videos.
You can download Cinemagraph Pro from the Mac App Store. I bought it with a huge discount (92.5%) for a limited time, but the full price is around 199$ (199€). Yes, it's expensive.
Yesterday I saw The Wolf of Wall Street.
It’s cool, very cool… but it hasn’t become one of my favorite movies.
It’s quite common nowadays to record a movie based on a Wall Street story, and it’s getting more and more popular. Take some men with a desperate desire of money, few monitors with numbers and percentage scrolling, an incredibly competitive business environment and mix all together with a sprinkling of cocaine, alcohol, escort and various drugs. Here’s the movie after all. However The Wolf of Wall Street does something more.
The movie itself it’s gorgeous… very very well acted (Di Caprio worths the oscar guys), and very well executed. The scenes sometimes are a little bit excessive and also the music is sometimes in contrast with the things that are happening on the screen, but it’s ok: it's all designed to enhance the concept of madness that pervades the movie.
Nonetheless… I’m not completely satisfied. Ok, the actors, the scenes, this sense of madness and and the amazing direction of the film… but I've exited from the movie theater with nothing more that a smile. Do not get me wrong, this movie absolutely worths the ticket, and it’s a great movie. However, perhaps I expected more. I don’t know precisely what, because overall it's all very nice, also the psychological depth about the characters is done greatly, also the setting… But. There is this "but" at the end, which doesn't makes the film one of my favorites, even though it has all the credentials to become. Something it’s missing.
It’s a great film, and I suggest you to go immediately to the nearest movie theater. It’s gorgeous, simply I don’t consider it as one of my favorite movie of all time.
This guy is a genius.
