Monday, August 26 2013 at 23:00 GiorgioParravicini.com goes online for the first time. And months have passed. Since the first day, my site has always been almost the same. The same colors (except for a background-change few weeks ago), same layout, same style. But…
Today, I’m proud to announce: my site, version 2.0.
I’ve done a major redesign and reorder of all the sections:
- Photography: it’s completely redesigned and reorganized. The design is more clear (without that annoying white stripe at the bottom), but always focused on the shots. The photos are now sorted into categories, and not all the shots are visible from the homepage. This is an important step, because the number of photos that I upload is growing, and I can not put them all together indistinctly.
- Video: the design follows the Photography section, and also the videos are now organized into principal categories (my favorite is still the GoPro one).
- My Thoughts: here comes the revolution. The background is gone. Now it’s all white. My idea is to keep the focus on the content and not overloading the page with a background image. Maybe in the early days it all seems a little bare... But I'm sure that this decision will pay off in the future. The content comes always first (and nowadays many sites are following this way).
- About and Search: those pages are almost the same, except for the white background as the rest of the site.
I really like this new design. It’s more clear and keeps pace with the times. The font I’ve decided to use is still Proxima Nova Light, like the old site version 1.0. I hope you like it as me.
Finally, I want to thank Squarespace, the platform that I use, for the incredible ease of use and for the fantastic solutions it proposes.
